Wellbeing Workshops

The current COVID-19 global pandemic is a formative experience in the lives of children. We know that levels of anxiety are increasing all the time and that economic hardship may follow, putting families under yet more stress and instability. Mindfulness is not the answer to all mental health issues but we know that it helps children regulate their emotions, learn ways to exert control over their thoughts and feelings, and helps build resilience, positivity and happiness. The happiness of children is at the heart of everything we do.

We have developed our Wellbeing Workshops to enable schools to offer pupils a half-day focus on wellbeing with activities to support and build:

  • Mental health

  • Social and emotional wellbeing

  • Self-esteem

  • Coping with stress and anxiety

  • Relationships

School Children

During the Workshop children will explore "taking care" of themselves and what this means. They will learn and practise mindfulness techniques to calm and ground them. They will work with each other to actively listen. We will teach them "beditation" to help with relaxation and sleep. Each pupil completes a "Happiness Toolkit" to help them focus on what makes them feel good.

The mindfulness they will learn has been developed by the Mindfulness in Schools Project and is firmly based in neuroscience and vigorous research. The Paws b curriculum was developed for use in classrooms by teachers and uses as its basis the CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) courses routinely offered to adults by GPs and mental health professionals.

We know that an opportunity to focus on their wellbeing can benefit children in a myriad of ways. Year 6 can particularly benefit from learning ways to manage anxiety as they face exams and transition to secondary school.

At present the Wellbeing Workshops are only available for KS2 pupils. The Workshops:

  • Last approximately 2.5 hours and run before or after lunch to suit your timetable

  • Cost per KS2 class of up to 30 pupils - £150

  • Booking 2 x Workshops -  £275

Staff Wellbeing Session

We know that teachers are more likely to suffer job-related stress than other professionals which is possibly why staff wellbeing is now part of the Ofsted framework.

Our 30-45 minute Staff Wellbeing Workshop is designed to fit into a staff meeting or an inset day. During the sessions staff members focus on talking and listening to one another. We introduce them to mindfulness techniques that can support stress management and we invite them to consider their wellbeing and ways in which they can better support themselves and each other.

We also offer a full 8-hour course. For full details see Courses for Staff.

  • The cost for a staff workshop is £75.

  • This reduces to £50 if booking a pupil Wellbeing Workshop at the same time

  • Total cost of Staff Wellbeing Session + Pupil Wellbeing Workshop is £200
