MiSP

In their own words the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) is a charity whose aim is to inform, create, train and support the teaching of secular mindfulness to young people and those who care for them.

In 2009 MiSP was established as a not-for-profit company by two school teachers and mindfulness practitioners who believed young people in their classrooms could benefit from learning mindfulness skills.

At this time there were no curricula teaching these skills in the UK so MiSP created .b for 11-18 year olds and Paws b for 7-11 year-olds. There are now over 2344 teachers trained to teach .b and nearly 1000 to teach Paws b.

In 2016 MiSP became a charity with the vision that every child should possess skills to help them manage difficulty and flourish.

The MiSP website has a vast amount of information about the courses they have developed, the research that supports their work and links to further resources. Please do visit it -  www.mindfulnessinschools.org

We are proud to have trained with MiSP. The courses have absolute integrity and they only accept students who have undertaken their own 8-week, face-to-face mindfulness course (such as MBSR or MBCT). This enables us to model best practice to the young people we teach and to answer their questions in the best way. Training to become a teacher can only be undertaken by students with a proven mindfulness practice of their own.

Please note that my website has no formal link to MiSP other than my registration with them as a trained teacher of .b and Paws b.
