About

Dawn&Laura.JPG

Mindful Kids Cornwall was established in 2017 after Laura Howard and Dawn Howarth realised they each had a strong mindfulness practice and shared a commitment to working to improve child mental health. They have both undertaken training with The Mindfulness in Schools Project to enable them to teach mindfulness skills to young people from age 7-18.

Between them they have expertise and experience in teaching, educational psychology, child psychotherapy, safeguarding, mental health first aid, yoga and relaxation.

With six children aged 5-17 between them, they also understand the social, emotional and academic pressures young people are facing today.

Laura and Dawn deliver the Paws b and .b mindfulness curricula in schools around Cornwall. They sometimes team teach a course and at other times teach separately. They see the benefits of their collaboration as enabling best practice and continuous professional development as well as providing cover and support for each other. As a team they are able to lobby on mental health issues and work with health and education professionals locally and nationally.

Please contact either or both of them with any questions about mindfulness for young people.
